The Lounge/dining room is 7 metres by 8 metres. It is incorporated directly onto the kitchen area, to provide an open plan environment.
All the floors in the original brick section are made of tongue and groove , from Western Australia. With its beautiful rich colours and interesting grain, Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata) remains one of the world's most desirable and sought after hardwoods. The tree grows to a majestic 40 metres in height only in the south west corner of Western Australia.
Over the past 90 years, some small sections of the original flooring were either damaged or removed. Many recycled timber yards throughout Melbourne were searched to find replacement timbers of identical profile and colour, to maintain the integrity of the original floors.
